LOCATION - Lat 47°14'57", long 68°35'30" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Aroostook County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01010003, 0.25 mi southeast of the intersection of State Route 11 and 161 and U.S. Route 1, Fort Kent. Owner: U.S. Geological Survey.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR ME-84-1: 1980, 1981.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 50.8 ft. Upper casing diameter 6 in; top of first opening 50 ft, bottom of last opening 50.8 ft. Drilled artesian observation well.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 528.96 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: Top of steel casing at land surface datum, 0 ft above land-surface datum, Nov. 19, 1976 to Sep. 24, 2003; Top of steel casing after shortening, 2.05 ft below land-surface datum, Sep. 23, 2003 to Aug. 22, 2009; Top of steel casing after extension, 0.38 ft above land-surface datum, Aug. 21, 2009 to present. Land-surface datum is 3.0 ft above the general land surface.
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1976 to current year. Prior to Oct. 1990, daily mean data were published every fifth day.
GAGE - Electronic water-level recorder.
REMARKS - Water levels are affected by earth tides and pumping. Gaps in record indicate missing data. Aquifer: Glacial sand and gravel (ice-contact deposits) of Pleistocene age.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest daily water level, 0.44 ft below land-surface datum, May 3, 2017. Sept. 23, 2003 to Aug. 21, 2009, at former datum, highest daily water level, overflowed on Apr. 27, 2008 to May 17, 2008, and Apr. 26, 2009 to May 2, 2009 (at a water level near 2.05 ft below land-surface datum). Prior to Sept. 2003, at former datum, highest daily water level, 0.52 ft below land-surface datum, May 2, 1984; lowest daily water level, 15.28 ft below land-surface datum, Jan. 22-23, 1979.
