LOCATION - Lat 38°48'20.95", long 78°47'22.70" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Shenandoah County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02070006, 650 ft southwest of the intersection of Route 836 (Resort Drive) and Orkney Grade and 430 ft northwest of the intersection of Arnold Road and Brenda Lane in Basye.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 195 ft. Upper casing diameter 6.63 in; top of first opening 67 ft, bottom of last opening 111 ft. Drilled unused water well, cased to 55 ft, open hole from 55 to 195 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 1,336.85 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: TOP OF SHELF, 2.31 ft above land-surface datum, Aug. 8, 2007 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 2007 to current year.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval.
COOPERATION - Records provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Well is located in Brallier Formation of Upper Devonian age. Water level affected by magnitude 5.8 Mineral, VA earthquake on Aug. 23, 2011.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 10.17 ft below land-surface datum, May 18, 2011; lowest recorded, 16.30 ft below land-surface datum, Oct. 11, 12, 14, 2009.
