LOCATION - Lat 36°36'32", long 76°58'01" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Southampton County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010201, 0.1 mi southeast of intersection of State Highways 687 and 689, 4.0 mi southwest of Franklin. Owner: Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 745 ft. Upper casing diameter 4 in; top of first opening 714 ft, bottom of last opening 724 ft. Drilled unused water well, screened 714 to 724 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 18 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF SHELF, 1.45 ft above land-surface datum, Oct. 30, 2009 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1977, October 1978 to current year. Unpublished records available prior to October 1985 in files of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. July 19, 1995 to Oct. 31, 2009, occasional measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel. Oct. 16, 1992 to July 19, 1995, bimonthly measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel. Mar. 2, 1989 to Oct. 15, 1992, occasional measurement with chalked tape by USGS. Prior to Oct. 16, 1989, bimonthly measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel.

REMARKS - Well is located in Lower Potomac aquifer of Cretaceous age. Water level affected by regional drawdown. Water from this well is known to contain concentrations of dissolved solids greater than 1,000 mg/L.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 113.43 ft below land-surface datum, Oct. 9, 2016; lowest measured, 161.30 ft below land-surface datum, Oct. 23, 2008.
