LOCATION - Lat 33°49'56", long 90°40'22" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.24, T.23 N., R.5 W., Bolivar County, MS, Hydrologic Unit 08030207, Hydrologic Unit 08030207, Choctaw Meridian, County Code 011, at Merigold-Drew county road bridge, about 3 miles east of Hwy 61 at Merigold, MS (5 miles north of Cleveland), 89.6 miles upstream of mouth at confluence with the Yazoo River, 20 miles north of Vicksburg.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 49 ft. Upper casing diameter undefined; top of first opening undefined, bottom of last opening undefined. Well was drilled with a 2-inch PVC casing to a depth of 49.0 feet below land surface (LSD datum = 140.35). Bottom of one-foot screen is 48.7 feet below land surface. MP at insert at top of well casing pipe (2.37 feet above ground) is 2.95 feet above ground. It was 2.96 feet above land surface before Nov 21, 2016 levels. Well is located about 50 feet upstream of gage house.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 140.35 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: Undefined, 2.95 ft above land-surface datum, Jul. 30, 2014 to present. Measuring point (MP 1) is at insert at top of 2-inch PVC well casing, currently 2.95 feet above land surface. It was 2.96 feet above land surface before Nov 21, 2016 levels.

GAGE - A 6-foot walk-in fiberglass shelter fixed to a wooden platform is located on upstream right bank just upstream of 07288280, Big Sunflower River near Merigold, Mississippi at bridge abutment. A KPSI submersible pressure transducer connects the gage to the well, about 50 feet upstream of gage-shelter. A Design Analysis plus DCP (s/n 1566) is connected to a KPSI submersible pressure transducer, set to a 15 minute-scan interval, housed at the walk-in gage house. The KPSI sensor was pulled from the well on April 24, 2018 and moved to the river stage sensor housing.
COOPERATION - This well is maintained in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District (Funding lapsed in March of 2018) as part of the Lower Mississippi River Delta Alluvial GW/SW interaction project.
