09183600 MILL CREEK BELOW SHELEY TUNNEL, NEAR MOAB, UT
LOCATION - Lat 38°29'08.64", long 109°24'37.56" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 SW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.05, T.27 S., R.23 E., San Juan County, UT, Hydrologic Unit 14030005,

on the left bank, 600 feet below Sheley Tunnel, and nine miles southeast of Moab, UT.

DRAINAGE AREA - 27.6 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Revisions: discharge data for the period between Oct 19, 2022 to Oct 24, 2022 were revised on Jan 16, 2024, based on changes to shift application. 
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2003 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 5,355.02 ft. above NAVD of 1988 from a Level II GNSS survey conducted on July 7, 2022.
REMARKS - Records good except for estimates, which are poor. Sheley Tunnel, which diverts water from Mill Creek for K. E. McDougald Reservoir, is located 600 ft. above the gage. Up to 60 ft³/s of flow can be diverted through the tunnel.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 1,754 ft³/s, Jul 26, 2022 from slope-area measurement at upstream station, gage height, 9.37 ft; minimum daily discharge, 0.14 ft³/s, May 30, 31, 2009.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Continuous water temperature since June 19, 2014.
REMARKS - Water quality data ratings for specific periods of time can be obtained from the Utah Water Science Center. Water temperature records are generally excellent or good.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum recorded, 25.9 °C, July 8th 2018; minimum recorded, -0.4 °C, on several days in Dec 2016.
