08067118 Lake Charlotte near Anahuac, TX

LOCATION - Lat 29°52'02", long 94°42'53" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Chambers County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12030203, on east side of Lake Charlotte, which is connected to the Trinity River by a small channel, 1.0 mi west of State Highway 563, 1.9 mi north of Interstate Highway 10, and 2.7 mi northeast of Wallisville.

DRAINAGE AREA - 55 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - Dec. 1991 to current year.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is North American Vertical Datum 1988; prior to Oct. 1, 2022, datum of gage 5.82 ft below NGVD of 1929. Satellite telemeter at station.

REMARKS - Lake Charlotte is a shallow natural lake within the Trinity River delta. Dec. 1991 to Nov. 9, 1992, the lowest stilling well intake was at gage height of 7.3 ft, thereafter, it was at gage height of 6.7 ft. During the 2010 water year, the lower intakes were plugged and the lowest gage height is 7.1 ft. The well was parially cleaned on Dec. 7, 2010 and the lowest published mean gage height was 7.0 ft. On January 1, 2012, a non-contact radar sensor was installed and allows for the collection of reliable gage height data until the lake goes dry, at stages below 6.0 ft. Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water and water quality may not be available electronically.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height, 17.53 ft, Sept. 1, 2017, at 2145 hours (Hurricane Harvey).
