LOCATION - Lat 32°45'45", long 96°59'40" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Dallas County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12030102, on downstream side of Belt Line Road bridge, 1.3 mi northeast of Grand Prairie, 3.7 mi upstream from Mountain Creek, and at mile 514.6.
DRAINAGE AREA - 3,065 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 405.30 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to Dec. 6, 1933, non-recording gage at bridge on old channel 2,500 ft southeast of Belt Line Rd site at datum 7.56 ft higher. Dec. 6, 1933, to May 24, 1956, water-stage recorder at site 440 ft downstream from site of non-recording gage at datum 7.56 ft higher than present datum. May 25, 1956, to Apr. 18, 1957, non-recording gage at site 1.5 mi downstream at different datum. Apr. 19 to Aug. 13, 1957, non-recording gage at datum 5.00 ft higher than present datum. Aug. 14, 1957 to Sept. 30, 1982, water-stage recorder at datum 5.00 ft higher than present datum. Oct. 1, 1982 to Apr. 5, 2003, water-stage recorder at present datum. Apr. 6, 2003 to Sept. 30, 2006, water-stage recorder at site 3.5 mi upstream (Roy Orr Blvd.) at same datum. Satellite telemeter at station.
REMARKS - Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water and water quality may not be available electronically. Since installation of gage, at least 10% of contributing drainage area has been regulated. The City of Fort Worth discharges waste-water effluent into the river upstream from this station. There are many diversions upstream from station for municipal, industrial, and other uses.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum stage since at least 1900, 30.6 ft in May 1908 (former site and datum), from information by local resident. Flood in Apr. 1922 reached a stage of 29.0 ft (former site and datum), from floodmarks.
