LOCATION - Lat 46°36'18.02", long 112°05'17.75" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.22, T.10 N., R.4 W., Lewis and Clark County, MT, Hydrologic Unit 10030101, 50 ft upstream of Williams Street bridge, and 0.8 mi west of Helena, MT.
DRAINAGE AREA - 98.7 mi².  
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR MT-2013: Drainage area. The maximum gage height for water year 2017 was revised on April 22, 2020, based on audit findings.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1907 to September 1954; seasonal records May 1997 to October 1998; and August 28, 2012 to current.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 3,953.21 ft above sea level, North American Vertical Datum of 1988. July 1907 to Sept. 1925, staff gage, and Sept. 18, 1925 to Sept. 30, 1954, water-stage recorder at site approximately 600 ft upstream at different datum; May 1997 to Oct. 1998, water-stage recorder, seasonal record, at different datum; Apr. 16, 2002 to Sept. 23, 2004, wire-weight gage, miscellaneous measurements, at different datum just upstream of bridge.
REMARKS - Numerous diversions by the City of Helena for city water supply occur upstream from station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 3,770 ft³/s, May 22, 1981, from indirect discharge measurement of peak flow.
