LOCATION - Lat 42°19'24", long 88°15'06" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 SE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.1, T.44 N., R.8 E., McHenry County, IL, Hydrologic Unit 07120006, slightly right of the center of the bridge on the downstream side of the eastbound span of Charles J. Miller Rd. bridge, 1.5 miles downstream from Boone Creek and downtown McHenry, and at mile 98.8.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,250 mi².

GAGE - Water-stage recorder, acoustic-velocity meter, and satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 724.619 ft. above NAVD of 1988.
REMARKS - Stage is regulated by the locks and control gates of the dam, located one mile downstream. There also will be some storage effects by the Fox Chain-of-Lakes.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 3,090 ft³/s, March 3, 2023, gage height, 10.77 ft.; maximum gage height 12.63 ft., June 15, 2023; minimum daily discharge, 82.6 ft³/s, February 20, 2021 (estimated).
