03293000 MIDDLE FORK BEARGRASS CREEK AT LOUISVILLE, KY

LOCATION - Lat 38°14'14", long 85°39'53" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Jefferson County, KY, Hydrologic Unit 05140101, on right bank at Louisville, 75 feet downstream from bridge on Old Cannons Lane, 1.7 miles downstream from Weicher Creek, 5.4 miles upstream from confluence with South Fork, 7.0 miles upstream from Ohio River, and at mile 5.4.

DRAINAGE AREA - 18.9 mi² of which 0.50 mi² probably is noncontributing.

REVISIONS HISTORY -

WSP 1625: 1945(M), 1948(M), 1950(P), 1951-52(M), 1954-55(M), 1957(M), drainage area. WRD KY 72-1: 1950(M).

Datum of gage for period Jul 26, 1971 to Dec 22, 2022 reported as 476.70 feet above NGVD of 1929. This datum was revised to 476.26 feet above NGVD of 1929.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1944 to current year.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder with telemetry and crest-stage gage. Datum is 475.76 feet above NAVD of 1988 and 476.26 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to March 12, 1968, water-stage recorder at same site at datum 1.0 foot higher. March 12, 1968 to July 26, 1971, water-stage recorder at site 1,000 feet upstream at datum 1.0 foot higher.

COOPERATION - Louisville and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood in March 1943 reached a stage of 9.1 feet, present site and datum, from information by local residents.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum instantaneous gage height, 9.13 feet on July 12, 2015; maximum instantaneous discharge, 6070 ft³/s on September 23, 2006. Lowest daily mean discharge, 0.00 ft³/s August 27, 1952.
