02381400 CARTERS LAKE NEAR CARTERS, GA
LOCATION - Lat 34°36'59.7", long 84°40'23.2" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Murray County, GA, Hydrologic Unit 03150102, at forebay of dam on Coosawattee River, 1.3 miles upstream from Talking Rock Creek, 1.3 miles east of Carters, GA, 1.9 miles upstream from L & N RR bridge, and at river mile 26.8.
DRAINAGE AREA - 374 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR GA-2009-1: 2008(minimum contents).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 2007 to Current year. Elevation records collected at same site since January 1974 to May 2007 in files of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
GAGE - Satellite telemetry with a water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 0.07 feet below North American Vertical Datum (NAVD) of 1988 (levels by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers).
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District.

Reservoir is formed by rolled rock-filled dam. Emergency spillway (crest elevation, 1070 feet) is equipped with five tainter gates. Storage began November 12, 1974. Lake first reached minimum pool, elevation, 1022 feet March 17, 1975. Power operation began July 19, 1975. Capacity at primary flood control pool elevation, 1099 feet, 472,800 acre-feet. Capacity at maximum power pool elevation, 1072 feet, 377,100 acre-feet. Dead storage below elevation 1022 feet, 242,200 acre-feet. Lake is used for flood control and power. Capacity table furnished by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum contents, 472,400 acre-feet, April 8, 1977; maximum elevation, 1099.16 feet; minimum contents, after first filling, 303,840 acre-feet, December 21,1990; minimum elevation, 1047.15 feet.
