02331000 CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVER NEAR LEAF, GA.
LOCATION - Lat 34°34'37.5", long 83°38'09.7" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Habersham County, GA, Hydrologic Unit 03130001, 700 feet upstream from bridge on GA 115, 3 miles from confluence with Soque River and 1.5 miles east of Leaf, GA.
DRAINAGE AREA - 150 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -
DISCHARGE: May to December 1907, October 1939 to September 1971 (discontinued). Monthly discharge for some periods published in WSP 1304. October 2008 to September 2009.
GAGE HEIGHT: February 2007 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry. Datum of gage is 1,219.47 feet above National Geogetic Vertical Datum (NGVD) of 1929.
COOPERATION - Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-ga_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge recorded, 22,500 cfs, May 28, 1973; maximum gage-height recorded, 17.50 feet, May 28, 1973; minimum daily discharge, 59 cfs, October 7, 2008.
