LOCATION - Lat 39°56'46", long 76°45'20" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, York County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02050306, on left bank 0.5 mi upstream from bridge on Richland Ave. (SR 3054), 2.0 mi downstream from South Branch Codorus Creek, and 2.0 mi southwest of York.
DRAINAGE AREA - 222 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - 1915-23, 1926-32, discharge measurements only; 1997 to 2018, continuous-record annual-peak station; 1940-96 and 2019 to current year, continuous-record station.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 356.39 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers benchmark). Prior to Sept 30, 1932, non-recording gage at site 1.6 mi downstream at different datum. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District.
REMARKS - Peak stage and discharge can be obtained by accessing Surface-water: Peak streamflow from the SUMMARY OF ALL AVAILABLE DATA. Record for water years 2014-2018 peak is good. Records for water year 2019 are good except for estimated discharge, which is poor. Records for water years 2020-2023 are fair except for estimated discharge, which is poor.
