SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 2011 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 310 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, from topographic map. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Funding is provided by PA Department of Environmental Protection as part of a water- quality assessment of the Conewago Creek Watershed. Additional partners include the USDA, Dauphin, Lancaster, and Lebanon County Conservation Districts, the Pennsylvania State University and Elizabethtown College.
REMARKS - Records for water years 2014-2016 are fair except those for discharges less than 5 ft³/s and greater than 6,600 ft³/s and for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Records for water year 2017 are fair except those for discharges less than 5 ft³/s and greater than 6,600 ft³/s and estimated discharge, which are poor. Records for water year 2018 are rated fair except for discharges less than 40 ft³/s and greater than 5,600 ft³/s and estimated discharge, which are poor. Records for water years 2019-2022 are rated fair except estimated discharge, which is poor.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - Water Temperature and Specific Conductance, January 2012 to current year. Turbidity, April 2016 to current year.
COOPERATION - Funding is provided by PA Department of Environmental Protection as part of a water-quality assessment of the Conewago Creek Watershed.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality probe monitoring water temperature, specific conductance, and turbidity on the 15-minute interval. Satellite telemetry at the site.
REMARKS - 2011 water year water temperature record is rated good, specific conductance record is rated poor, and turbidity record is not suitable for publication. 2012 water year water temperature record is rated good, specific conductance record is rated poor, and turbidity record is not suitable for publication. 2013 water year water temperature record is rated good, specific conductance record is rated poor, and turbidity record is not suitable for publication. 2014 water year water temperature record is rated good, specific conductance record is rated poor, and turbidity record is not suitable for publication. 2015 water year water temperature record is rated good, specific conductance record is rated poor, and turbidity record is not suitable for publication. 2016 water year water temperature record is rated good, specific conductance records rated fair, and turbidity record is rated poor April 15 through September 30; period October 1 through April 14 was not suitable for publication. 2017 water year water temperature record is rated good;  specific conductance records rated good, except those for Nov 24- Dec 6, Dec 10-15, Jan 21-23, Feb 8, Apr 11-18, Apr 29-May 1, which are fair; turbidity records rated fair, except those for Dec 2-5, 14, 22-25, Jan 5-10, 12-18, Feb 27-28, Mar 26-27, Apr 11-13, 16-18, July 9-11, which are poor. 2018 water year water temperature record is rated good, specific conductance records rated fair, and turbidity record is rated poor. Beginning in water year 2019, water quality records are not rated as "excellent", "good", "fair", or "poor". The reporting precision of the turbidity probe in low turbidity water is +/-0.3 FNU. The lowest reportable value, 0 FNU, is subject to this error and does not necessarily indicate a condition of zero turbidity. Turbidity values greater than 1000 FNU are beyond the specification of the sensor and are considered unreliable.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: maximum, 30.9 oC on Jul 22, 2011; minimum, -0.2 oC on many days. SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: maximum, 856uS/cm on Feb 13, 2019; minimum, 70 uS/cm on Sept 7, 2011. TURBIDITY: maximum: 1,230 FNU on July 9, 2021, but may have been higher; minimum: <-0.2 FNU on many days.
