LOCATION - Lat 39°44'20", long 75°06'52" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Pitman Borough, Gloucester County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02040202, on left bank, 0.1 mi downstream of Wadsworth Dam on Kressey Lake, 0.7 mi east of Pitman High School, and 1.4 mi upstream from Porch Branch.
DRAINAGE AREA - 6.24 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Continuous-record discharge station, April 1940 to September 1976, November 2009 to current year. Annual maximum gage, October 1976 to September 2009. Prior to Nov 1, 2009 published as Mantua Creek at Pitman, NJ (station 01475000, drainage area, 6.05 mi²).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with telemetry and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 55.66 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to Oct 1974, gage was located 0.1 mi upstream, on left bank just upstream of Wadsworth Dam on Kressey Lake at datum of 57.11 ft above NAVD of 1988 and drainage area of 6.05 mi². From May 2003 to Oct 2009 gage was located 0.1 mi upstream, on left abutment just downstream of Wadsworth Dam on Kressey Lake at a datum of 68.51 ft above NGVD of 1929 and drainage area of 6.05 mi².
REMARKS - Records fair, except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Occasional regulation by operation of gates in Kressey Lake.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 4,200 ft³/s, from computation of peak flow over dam and earthen dike (assuming peak occurred before earthen dike failed) 0.1 mi upstream at Wadsworth Dam on Kressey Lake, Sep 1, 1940, gage height, 6.64 ft; maximum gage height, 7.31 ft, Aug 14, 2011, at present site and datum; minimum discharge, 2.3 ft³/s, Sep 30, 2001.
