01452500 MONOCACY CREEK AT BETHLEHEM, PA
LOCATION - Lat 40°38'28", long 75°22'47" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Northampton County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02040106, on right bank 40 ft downstream from highway bridge at entrance to Monocacy Park at Bethlehem, and 2.1 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 44.5 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1948 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Concrete control since July 17, 1969. Datum of gage is 246.54 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.  Prior to November 8, 2022, the datum of gage was reported as 247.24 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (levels by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers). Prior to May 15, 1962, non-recording gage at site 40 ft upstream at same datum. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the Lehigh County Authority, and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Some regulation at low flow since April 1954 by mill upstream. Records for water year 2014-2015 are fair except those for estimated daily discharge, which is poor. Records for water year 2016-2017 are fair. Records for water years 2018-2020 are fair except for estimated discharge, which is poor. Records for water year 2021 are fair except for July 27-Aug 16 and Sept 23-30 and estimated discharge, which is poor. Records for water year 2022 are good except for Oct 7 - Dec 14 which are fair, and Oct 1-6 and estimated discharge, which are poor. Records for water year 2023 are good.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of July 10, 1945, reached a stage of 9.74 ft, from floodmarks, discharge, about 5,200 ft³/s, based on indirect measurement of peak flow using slope-area method.
