LOCATION - Lat 41°10'14.63", long 73°21'53.34" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Fairfield County, CT, Hydrologic Unit 01100006, on left bank on Ford Road, 400 ft downstream from West Branch, 600 ft downstream from Aspetuck River, 2 mi north of Westport, Fairfield County, 5.5 mi upstream from mouth.

DRAINAGE AREA - 79.8 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1932 to September 1967; July 2009 to current year.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 17.10 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to 5/24/2023 datum of gage was 18.16 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Satellite telemetry at station.

REMARKS -

Flow regulated by storage and diversion at Saugatuck Reservoir by diversion from basin for water supply of Norwalk, and by Aspetuck Reservoir on Aspetuck River. Aquarion Water Co. diverts an indeterminable amount of water from Aspetuck Reservoir.

Water Year 2017 - 2023: Records good except for periods of estimated data, which are fair.
Water Year 2014 - 2016: Records good except for periods of estimated daily discharges, which are fair.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - The maximum peak flow of 14,800 ft³/s was obtained from the rating curve extended above 2,400 ft³/s on basis of computation of peak flow over dam at gage height 10.28 ft. and contracted-opening measurement of peak flow. The maximum stage of 15.93 ft. was from high-water marks in gage house.
