LOCATION - Lat 44°05'34", long 72°20'10" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Orange County, VT, Hydrologic Unit 01080103, on left bank, 0.3 mi east of East Orange Road and Fish Pond Road intersection in East Orange, 1.7 mi upstream from mouth, 2.0 mi southwest of West Topsham, 5.0 mi southeast of Orange, and 11.0 mi southeast of Barre.
DRAINAGE AREA - 8.95 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR MA-NH-RI-VT-72-l: 1960-64(P), 1969-71(P). WDR-US-2009: 2002-08 (P).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Discharge records: June 1958 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 1,177.59 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. May 7, 2001 to Oct 5, 2016 at site 60 ft downstream at same datum.
COOPERATION - Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation and  USGS Groundwater and Streamflow Information Program.
REMARKS - WATER YEARS 2014-21: Records fair except those for estimated discharges, which are poor. WATER YEARS 2022-23: Records good except those for estimated discharges, which are poor. Occasional diurnal fluctuation at low flow caused by mill upstream.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 800 ft³/s, July 23, 1990, from rating curved extended above 160 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow; maximum gage height, 6.35 ft, January 22, 1959, ice jam; minimum discharge, 0.10 ft³/s, September 9 and 19, 1963.
