LOCATION - Lat 44°24'36", long 71°43'16" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Coos County, NH, Hydrologic Unit 01080101, on left bank, 250 ft. upstream from Old Gilman Road bridge, 1,200 ft. downstream from dam of Gilman Paper Co., 0.3 miles south of Post Office in Gilman, VT, 0.3 miles north of Dalton Hill Road and State Highway 135 intersection in Cusham, 1.2 miles downstream from Dalton, and at mile 300.1.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,514 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 891: Drainage area. WSP 1231: 1935. WSP 1301: 1928-35(M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Discharge records: March 1927 to current year. Published as "at Waterford, VT" 1927-35. Records published for both sites January to September 1935.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 799.44 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to September 30, 1935, nonrecording gage at bridge 10.5 mi downstream at mean sea level (National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929). January 1, 1935 to June 29, 1937, nonrecording gage at bridge 250 ft downstream at present datum. July 11, 1956 to June 1, 1961, auxiliary nonrecording gage read hourly at same site.
COOPERATION - New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services and USGS Groundwater and Streamflow Information Program.
REMARKS - WATER YEARS 2014-23: Records good except those for estimated discharges, which are poor. Flow regulated by power plants and by First Connecticut and Second Connecticut Lakes, Lake Francis, and other reservoirs. These reservoirs have a combined usable capacity of about 8.3 billion ft³.
