STATION.--03028500 CLARION RIVER AT JOHNSONBURG, PA
LOCATION.--Lat 41`29'10", long 78`40'43", Elk County, Hydrologic Unit 05010005, on left bank at upstream side of highway bridge at Johnsonburg, 0.1 mi downstream from confluence of East and West Branches.
DRAINAGE AREA.--204 square miles.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1945-1995 (continuous-record discharge station), 1996 to 2013 (annual peaks only), 2014 to current year (continuous-record discharge station).
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder, water-quality monitor and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 1,423.03 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Prior to Nov. 8, 1951, non-recording gage at same site and datum. Satellite and landline telemetry at station.
COOPERATION.--Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District.
REMARKS.--Flow regulated since June 1952 by East Branch Clarion River Lake 7.9 mi upstream and at low flow by industrial plants above station.
GAGE HEIGHTS OF IMPORTANCE.-
Supplied by NWS: Action stage-5 ft; Flood stage-7 ft; Moderate flood stage-9 ft; Major flood stage-10 ft.
This station managed by the PAWSC Williamsport Field Office.
